So will I

My new favorite song. And phrase. As I’ve been reflecting on His decision for me to go on the World Race this song puts to words my heart. I’ve been fortunate that this decision has been a rather easy one for me. My heart has come alive for this world and the things that make up the very best and very worst parts of it. I remember asking myself a rather simple question one day while I was praying over the idea of long term ministry.. ‘what would Jesus be doing if he were here today?’ That question lead to a simple two word response ‘He’d go.’

So will I.

This song, sung by Hillsong (I encourage you to listen to it) illustrates the magnitude of creation. The living, breathing God that simply spoke and created everything from a single breath.

“If the stars were made to worship so will I
If the mountains bow in reverence so will I
If the oceans roar Your greatness so will I
For if everything exists to lift You high so will I
If the wind goes where You send it so will I
If the rocks cry out in silence so will I
If the sum of all our praises still fall shy
Then we’ll sing again a hundred billion times”

I know there are going to be a lot of tough things along my journey that I’ll be incapable of doing.. physically healing someone, rescuing a young girl from a brothel, adopting an orphan, providing a hurting family with an income.. the list goes on.

But I know what my Savior would do during the tough and seemingly impossible times.. He’d pray over the broken and hurting.. so will I.

He’d love on the young girls in brothels and show them how a Father loves them.. so will I.

He’d be a source of joy and encouragement for an orphan that doesn’t know what it’s liked to be embraced and loved unconditionally by a parent.. so will I.

And when it just seems like all hope is lost and it’s all too much to bare, He’d cry out to His father for strength.. so will I. A hundred billion times.

I’ll end with the poetic lyrics from the end of this song. Seriously, listen to it.

“And as you speak
A hundred billion failures disappear
Where You lost Your life so I could find it here
If You left the grave behind You so will I
I can see Your heart in everything You’ve done
Every part designed in a work of art called love
If You gladly chose surrender so will I
I could see Your heart eight billion different ways
Every precious one a child You died to save
If You gave Your life to love them so will I
Like You would again a hundred billion times
But what measure could amount to Your desire
You’re The One who never leaves the one behind.”
