Bye Honduras // HUMBLED

I’ve learned so much this month about myself and Jesus’s love for me and others. I’ve made lasting friendships with these beautiful people and I cannot wait to see them again one day.

KELBY- I was drawn to you right away. Your frail body and inability to speak was heartbreaking. I wanted to see God do a miracle in you so badly. I wanted Him to strengthen your body and see you walk on your own. Give you the ability to speak and communicate. I quickly learned your disability isn’t a disadvantage. God created you this way for a reason and who am I to question that? I learned more about God’s character through you than I could have ever thought. I’m so thankful for the hand holding and brief eye contact you gifted me this month. I pray for peace and comfort in your life. You are truly a blessing, Kelby.

FEDELIA- What a joy you are. You are so full of personality and you know what you want when you want it. You have definitely taught me to seek beauty in the unlikely places. Your love of sticks and dead plants was humorous at first. It still is and that’s just part of who you are. You see something in creation that others do not. Even with your inability to speak that never limited our ability to communicate by other means. I’ll treasure our times on the porch together.

DANNI- I will forever remember this smile. You brightened my day everyday. You were always so content sitting on the porch, going on walks around campus or just holding hands for hours. Thank you for showing me what it looks like to slow down. To not worry about tomorrow or even the next moment but to just be present. Be present and enjoy the current moment. What a gift you are Danni.

OLGA- You bright and shiny star. Your laugh can light up any room. I’ve loved our dances together and your silly, carefree personality. You’ve taught me not to take life to seriously. Thank you for your lightheartedness and love of others.

YOLANI- Your sweetness and positivity was consistent everyday. You were always smiling and so eager to welcome us into your home and life each day. I loved our walks listening to you chatter away just audible above a whisper. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

WENDY- That laugh. Oh that laugh I will cherish forever. Your new found love of country music was one of my highlights this month. You found joy in the little things. In the things that would bring a simple but profound smile to your face. Thank you for allowing us to be part of that. I will never forget you.

DANIELLA- You are one of the most gentle spirits I’ve ever had the privilege to meet. You have the most radiant smile and heart and it was apparent everyday we were together. You live through the hard days and make the next day following some of the best days. I loved your smile you gifted me with every time we saw each other.

ROSALINA- I think of pure joy when I think of you. You love life and all it has to offer. Your laugh always had us laughing. Your spirit was contagious just being around you. Thank you for making the hard days light. I’ll never forget our wheelchair races and your crush on Orlando. You are loved sweet girl.

FRANCIS- Sweet, sweet Francis. You we’re our rock this month. You helped us and taught us so much. I loved your hugs and being called your friend. You loved and cared for the others in your home so well. I’ll never forget our dance parties and nail polish sessions. You were the toughest goodbye but will be the happiest hello again. See you soon sweet friend.
